Be On The Lookout

4 Jul
Lost Dogs, Fireworks, Fourth Of July

Sadly, posters like this will be everywhere (Photo by Jeramey Jannene/Flickr)

It breaks my heart. As someone who’s walking around the city all day, I can definitely say that it’s a sad fact. Every year after the Fourth of July, I see a dramatic increase in lost dog posters. On telephone poles, inside shop windows and on community bulletin boards.

Where ever there’s a spot for a poster to hang, there’s often news of a dog that went running during the fireworks on the Fourth.

Here are some tips about pets and fireworks we’ve shared here. Even if the next fireworks display might be a months away, it’s never too early to stay plugged in about the best ways to look after our furry family members.

If you spend part of your day on foot like I do, I hope you keep an eye open for these loving companions who’ve gone missing.

Lost Cat In Seattle’s Greenwood Neighborhood

Have you seen me? (Photo by Greg Valentine/Sniff Seattle)

If there’s a sad thing about what we do — walk dogs all day — it’s that we see a lot of signs like the one in the photo.

Missing cats. Lost dogs. It can be heartbreaking. Even as we keep our eyes peeled, hoping to find a lost kitty or pup, we feel the pet owners’ pain.

So, I was thinking that if we post some of the pics of the posters here, we can help spread the word and maybe just maybe someone will see the post and a lost pet will find their way home.

The sign above has been very visible to anyone in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood the last couple weeks. There are several just like it, mainly between Aurora Ave N and Greenwood Ave N and N 85th St and N 105th St.

We post this with hope.
