We’re All A Little Stressed — Doggies, Too!

Sad Dog, Dog Sense: How the New Science of Dog Behavior Can Make You a Better Friend to Your Pet

Awww, Someone needs to visit this guy during the day (Photo by Colin Davis/Flickr)

Our dogs could be suffering from stress and loneliness when we’re apart from them — even if the couch pillows aren’t torn to pieces when we come home.

That’s what a handy book you might want to puck up says. Dr. John Bradshaw writes about separation distress in Dog Sense: How the New Science of Dog Behavior Can Make You a Better Friend to Your Pet.

Bradshaw has spent his career debunking some of the common bad dog advice we’ve all heard, while researching the understanding of dog behavior.

“Most dogs probably have stronger attachments to people than they do to other dogs,” he says. “Which is pretty unusual for any species, apart from our own.”

One of Bradshaw’s main findings? “Most dogs do not like being left alone.”

Hello Kahlo!

Dog Walking Pit Bull Seattle

We're thankful Kahlo got a second chance (Photo by Greg Valentine from Team Sniff)

Kahlo is a Pit Bull who was rescued from Miami (where the breed is against the law). Now, she lives happily in the Capitol Hill area in Seattle.

And we LOVE walking this sweetie! Sniff Seattle doesn’t breed discriminate.

I want to share a few pics of Race and Rosie, two of our doggy friends.

Rosie. I'm in love with this puppy! (Photo by Greg Valentine from Team Sniff)

Let me tell you about Rosie. Rosie’s about three months old; a full Chocolate Lab. She’s 100 percent puppy — joyful, playful, sometimes uncoordinated, and a fast learner. We’re providing our Puppy Out Relief service. Three visits a day. Some of the time, it’s walks with leash, potty and command training. Other visits are potty breaks and playtime.

Race is a “get-down-to-business” walker; just leash him up and he’s practically out the door! I love his spirit and energy. He’s a Chocolate Lab/Springer mix, and the frequent recipient of Rosie’s doggy “bear hugs!”

Dog Walker Shot, Lady Gaga’s Frenchies Stolen

25 Feb
Sniff Seattle Dogs, Bulldogs, Dog Photos

Nanners, not one of Lady Gaga’s Frenchies (Photo by Greg Valentine from Team Sniff)

Someone shot Lady Gaga’s dog walker and stole her two French Bulldogs, Koji and Gustav. The dog walker’s recovering. And Lady G’s offering a reward for the safe return of the pups.

Needlesstosay, this is not OK. Maybe we’re biased. But shooting a dog walker is like shooting a fireman. Or a nurse. Or any of the many, many people doing essential work that helps people. I mean, c’mon, man.

I’ll jump off the soapbox now and give a little more info about the reward mentioned above. Someone close to Lady Gaga says she’s “offering half-a-million dollars to anyone who has her two dogs, no questions asked. Anyone who has the dogs can use this email, KojiandGustav@gmail.com to retrieve the reward.”

More details about the attack and theft HERE.
